Adrian "Cap" Anson managed the Chicago White Stockings (later known as the Colts and then Cubs) baseball team from 1879 to 1897. In the 1880s, his teams won five league pennants. Anson also helped establish racial segregation in baseball by refusing to play teams with African Americans.
