Museum Nasional Indonesia
Jakarta, Indonesia

The Nias people are, traditionally, animists worshiping their ancestors as part of their religious practices. When a person dies, an adu statue will be created to resemble the deceased. This is to maintain a relationship between the dead and their descendants. Adu statues of this size will be kept in the front part of the house.
