The photographer Pasquale D’Angiolillo flew over various pit locations in the Saarland together with the Pilot Günther Kopp. As part of his photography sessions, he not only captured the architecture of the former mining locations, but also the changes to the natural landscape that were the result of mining operations. The various heaps and tailings basins will continue to shape the landscape of the Saarland even after the end of coal mining.
