An acrylic on Board painting titled Aero-plane Kit (2003) by the South African artist Annette Pretorius (b. 1957). This painting is part of a series of works where the artist explores various techniques for painted surfaces that emulate the appearance of wood. Pretorius utilises several objects such as wooden aeroplane, and paints the parts to resemble different types of wood. Short Biography: Annette Pretorius was born in 1957 in Pretoria, South Africa. She studied at the University of Pretoria in 1980, as a student under the South African artist and lecturer, Nico Roos. Between 1983 and 1985 she lectured part-time. By 1985, Pretorius commenced work for the Little Marionette Company, producing puppet shows and the creation of marionettes which were popularly used for television shows for children during the 1980s and 1990s.
