AFL Footy Focus Finalist, Amata Bombers and the Titjikala Hawks

This image was taken in late September, 2015. It was taken in Ernabella, which is an Aborginal community in the South Australia APY Lands (Anangu Pitjantjtjatjara Yankunytjattjara). There was a football carnival being held with several teams from neighbouring communites taking place. At the time I was the Officer In Charge of Mutitjulu Police Station in the Northern Territory (2014 to 2016). I went down to assist the SAPOL members with the carnival (and support my team the Mutitjulu Cats). The carnvival took place over three days.

This was the last game played late on the first day of competition (Saturday 26th Sept 2015). All fixtures were subject to 'bush time'and the carnival was extended another day. Competition was fierce and as this image captures - very dusty!
