Africa is said to be the birthplace of humankind. Since before the advent of written language, histories have been passed on through stories, events, and ceremonies. We know that the lives of early peoples centered around holy events, such as harvests, marriages, and coming of age ceremonies. Eventually, they developed art to express themselves through wall paintings, stone carvings, and other crafts. Thousand years of history and culture can be seen in the works of various ethnic groups.
