This necklace is based on an old Queen’s collar from Alexandria, Egypt. It is made of faience and mummy beads (also made of faience) with a hung cast brass pendant from the Baoule of Ivory Coast, cast by the “lost wax" technique. Faience is one of the first beads made by man made largely of sand and was a predecessor of glass and has been produced for the last 8500 years in Egypt. This necklace was designed and created by Alan Donovan of African Heritage.
