'After Eden' is a pas des deux focused on a love-hate relationship between a man (Gérard Lemaître) and a woman (Marianne Sartädt) who, expelled from paradise, have to find their way in life. In the opening scene, the man drags the woman around like a burden. This scene is followed by a powerful erotic solo by Lemaître which is answered with a more subtle tender reaction by Sarstädt, ending in a harmonious duet. John Butler’s choreographies – while modern – show clear classical influences.
