A point, lace chape, aglet or aiglet. These objects are known by all these names. It is made of tinned iron cut to shape and bent into a tube. This example has a punched flower decorations, which is an unusual feature. Points were stiched to the ends of lace to protect them from wear and facilitate threading through the fastening holes. Probably dates to the 16th century
