International cricket ceased due to World War One. First-class cricket continued at the SCG in 1914-15 but took a hiatus from 1915-16 to 1917-18. Australian Test cricketer Albert "Tibby" Cotter - who debuted at the SCG in 1904 - was killed in action on 31 October 1917. Following the war the NSW Cricket Association erected plaque in his honour at the SCG.
