Alberto Montacchini

LUIGI FRONIante 1930

Collezione Fondazione Cariparma

Collezione Fondazione Cariparma
Parma, Italy

Published for the first time in 1930 in an unsigned article entitled "Our artists. Luigi Froni" in the newspaper "Il Corriere Emiliano", the mask portrays Alberto Montacchini (Parma 1894 - 1956), exclusive photographer of the Teatro Regio since 1928, comedian and character actor. Montacchini had also been a theatrical entrepreneur and he founded the Artistic Group for the Dialect Theater of Parma in 1931. The work is an extremely important piece to understand what was the artistic evolution of Luigi Froni, his "retreat on classicist, essential forms, which take into account the results of contemporary sculpture and to intuit the subsequent evolution of the genre that he will call "mask", to indicate an operation of unveiling, of uncovering the subject ".
