"Sculpture of an unknown author, inspired in the classic Greek statuary models, but at the same time it adds details that move it away from the classic world. Among others the position of crossed legs or her faintly smile, not used in sculpture before the end of the 19th century.

The proportion of support in relation to the figure is another distinctive element and it is precisely in the support where the sculptor introduces a mix of marine elements, as waves, winkles, fishes and shells, in addition to flowers and fern leaves, symbolic elements that show the author free, creative and personal contribution.

The result can make think of a renewal of the birth of Venus subject. Although the title it is nowadays known, possibly responds to the cultural context of the early 20th century when some complaints about identity in France, Italy and Catalonia propose to go back to the origins and recover the Mediterranean sense of our culture."
