From the Artist: These works, utilizing watercolor and collage, are the first pieces I created while quarantining during the pandemic. My studio in Port Chester was in lock-down and my work was at a standstill. Without the ability to have access to my materials and be productive on a daily basis, I began to question my purpose as an artist. As visual artists, we generally work independently, but still seek out personal interactions. This is what I was missing. Over time, through social media, phone calls and Facetime, the support of my fellow artists gave me courage to safely find a way to obtain some basic materials from my studio. Once retrieved, I then began to work from my home. During these challenging and uncertain days, I relied heavily on my art to motivate me and give me daily direction, comfort and inspiration. Spatial containment, enclosure, and barriers are all concepts that are explored in these works that represent a time when the world seemed closed-off and shut down.
