The USA reached the semi-finals of the 2003 tournament, only to lose to Germany in front of a 27,623 crowd in Portland. The Germans went onto win the tournament for the first time making them the only nation to have won both the women’s and men’s World Cup competitions.

This signed shirt was worn by US Women’s National Team midfielder Aly Wagner. One of the country's key playmakers, Wagner contributed 21 goals and 42 assists in her 131 international appearances.

During the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup, Wagner made three appearances during the group stage, with her fourth appearance of the tournament coming in the 3-0 semi-final defeat against the eventual world champions.

Fifteen years later, Wagner made US television history by becoming the first woman to commentated on a men's World Cup match, taking up the microphone for Iran's 1-0 win over Morocco.
