Hsu Pei-Cheng paints with poetic strokes and colors. With his ingenuity, graphic stories and essays get painted on canvas, one after another.
The two pieces on display at Very Fun Park are the latest creation in Hsu’s 2012 series—A story about “islands”. He believes every man is an island. In between each island are some tangible and intangible links, forming interpersonal connections and also getting in touch with nature, time, and even with traces of their own memories. The real distance is no longer determined by physical relations but by a serendipitous encounter.
