An essential step during the cryopreservation of seeds

Our scientists in Kew's Comparative Plant and Fungal Biology department specialise in cryopreservation or freezing plant tissues (including seeds) at ultra-low temperatures. Here liquid nitrogen is being poured onto seed embryos. The aim is to store seeds safely for future use.
