In 1985 German-American pianist, composer, and conductor André Previn became the ninth music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Previn’s tenure with the LA Phil was characterized by his predilection for British and Russian orchestral music performed both live and on his commercial recordings with the orchestra. Previn continues to guest conduct and record with the world’s major orchestras, most frequently with the Boston Symphony, New York Philharmonic, and Vienna Philharmonic.
