Angel with Crown of Thorns and Spear

This angel is holding the crown of thorns and a spear that are two symbols of the Passion of Christ. These symbols, and the direction of the gaze of the angel, tell us that the panel was part of a bigger composition: a large polyptych (a painting with many panels) that today is dismembered and dispersed in different collections.
