The heavy bony club at the end of the Ankylosaurus' tail could quite easily smash the bones of any animal that dared to attack it… It was also covered from top to toe in a form of armour comprising of nodules, spikes and bony plates protruding from the skin. This armour made it one of the best protected dinosaurs. This helped to make up for its slowness and clumsiness.
