The statue, dating 1369 and commissioned by the shoemakers corporation, is attribuited to Domenico d'Agostino and, beyond its stateliness, is striking for the sad sweetiness of the perfectly oval face and the delicacy of the draperies with intricate edgings, wich recall the style of the artist's more celebrated brother, Giovanni D'Agostino. The correspondent Angel has been realized by another sculptor, Angelo di Nalduccio.
