From a collection of antique newspapers containing articles relevant to Black British history; these are often regarding the Translantic Slave Trade, however some articles relate to musicians, sportsmen and British imperialism.
This newspaper includes an account of the 'Slave Court' at Montego Bay, Jamaica on 24 June: 'The King v Stella, a negro woman, and her son William Buchanan, a sambo, belonging to the late Mr Cargill Mowat, for compassing and imagining the death of a white person, and for being accessories to the murder of the late Mr Mowat' (third page, second column).
