Gilded terracotta applique depicting a griffin moving towards the right. Similar appliques, arranged in friezes incorporating a range of subjects, were used for the decoration of wooden sarcophagi. Discovered in the same context were representations of animals (predators and prey) and figures recalling the mythical struggle between griffins and Arimaspians.
