Elaborately designed Arabian sword made of very old Damascus steel with an ivory hilt ornamented by gold filigree and studded with semi-precious yellow carbon diamonds. Sword is stored in blue and white velour and satin box with sterling silver ornamentation. This box is placed within a larger wooden box with red satin lining. Cover the outer box is a custom made canvas cover, beige in color with metal snaps. The scabbard and hilt were designed especially for FDR. Presented to FDR on September 30, 1943, by King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia, through his sons. FDR Library Museum Collection, MO 1944.104.2.
