Captain America and the Avengers is an arcade game based on the Marvel Comics series The Avengers, which was created by Stan Lee and first published in September 1963. Players can choose to represent one of four superheroes portrayed in the comics - Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye and the Vision - and includes villains such as the Grim Reaper, the Juggernaut and Whirlwind. Gameplay follows the traditional side-scrolling format, with characters combining punches and kicks with special powers and abilities to defeat enemies. Special items can also be picked up from their surroundings and used in attacks.
