The Strong National Museum of Play

Founded in 1931, Chicago Coin designed and manufactured pinball and early arcade machines until Sam Stern purchased company and renamed it Stern Electronics in 1977. Driving and racing games were among the most popular arcade games of the 1960s and early 1970s. In 1969, Chicago Coin released Drive Master, an electromechanical driving game that featured realistic driving sounds.Other popular Chicago coin racing games included Speedway (1969), Motorcycle (1970), and Speedshift (1974).
