Fraser Neiman, Director of Archaeology at Monticello, discusses the archaeological research behind the recreation of Building L (the Storehouse for Iron) on Mulberry Row--the center of plantation activity at Monticello from the 1770s to Jefferson's death in 1826. Although historical records list this building on Mulberry Row as a storehouse, archaeology tells us this building was a lot more than that.
