This armchair was made in the Crafts School after a design by and under the guidance of Srećko Sabljak for the International Exhibitionin Paris in 1937, part of a larger set. The materials used and the form of the armchair are characteristic of the 1930s: massive full sides with rounded corners veneered with variegated walnut veneer enclose a bulky cubic form, while the seat and slightly slanting back are made of donkey hide stretched tight on wide round rods with turned endings. Srećko Sabljak (1892 – 1938), painter and woodcarver, made use objects decorated with motifs from the Croatian traditional heritage, as well as in the style of Art Déco. He took part in the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1925.
