The Fifth Military District held an army international baseball match between teams representing West Australia and America at the WACA Ground in what is believed to be the first international baseball match played in Western Australia. Charlie Puckett, pitching for West Australia, struck out 10 batters with his accuracy and guile and though the American team defeated West Australia 7-2, the home team were not disgraced. The match was reportedly broadcast overseas by the American authorities.
