In December 1915, Arnold Schönberg did a year’s voluntary service as a titular private first class in the k. & k. Hoch- und Deutschmeister Regiment No. 4. He completed the reserve officers school in Bruck an der Leitha from March to May, where he was photographed with his comrades. August Töke ran a studio in Bruck an der Leitha with a branch by the k. & k. Military Camp vis-à-vis the k. & k. post office – the proximity to the military evidently provided a good source of income.
