Arnold Schönberg visited the photographer Otto Schlosser in Prague several times in his studio; over 20 photos were taken of him in 1917 and 1924. When he was in exile Schönberg tried to support Schlosser in obtaining a visa for the United States (without success, Schlosser died in the Maly Trastsianiets extermination camp, Belarus, in 1942). “I know Mr. Schlosser as a man of excellent character, exceptional musician (violinist) and an outstanding photographer of international fame. His work in the latter field has won him prizes in numerous international competitions. I believe that Mr. Schlosser and his family will be a great addition to the artistic life of the United States to which country he is desirous of emigrating.” (Arnold Schönberg to the United State Consul in Vienna, 9 May 1941)
