Indian Museum, Kolkata

Indian Museum, Kolkata

The illustration is in sequence to the previous one. It shows the arrival of Avalokitesvara who now stands on the same boiling pot to save the sinners. The two attendants now withdraw and pray to Avalokitesvara.

The red-bodied Avalokitesvara stands on a lotus pedestal placed on the pot. His right hand gestures deliverance (varada) while the left holds the stem of the lotus.

The blue sky is dotted with Chinese clouds.
