ARTUR RODZIŃSKI CONDUCTING

In 1929 Artur Rodzinski became the third music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, having had successful concerts with the orchestra as guest conductor the previous year. In the four years of his music directorship with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Rodzinski conducted seventy-eight performances of works (including five world premieres) previously unheard by Philharmonic audiences. He broke with his two predecessors by expanding orchestra’s repertoire beyond that of nineteenth century fare.
