STEALING MY HEART
Meet Chelimo, a thirty-two-year-old mother of one who is an inmate at Lang’ata Women’s Prison serving a sentence for burglary. “After getting incarcerated, my friends and family deserted me. This is where Carakana came in and became my refuge. Through cross-stitching, I have been able to find a new family here in prison. I worked on this cross stitch of four-part flowers. With the payment I get from stitching, I am able to meet my basic needs since I have no one to visit me. I love cross-stitching and I thank Carakana for introducing it to us.”
