Space shuttle Atlantis is silhouetted against the pre-dawn sky as it rolls out to Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The pad, in the background, is illuminated as preparations are made to receive Atlantis. First motion out of the Vehicle Assembly Building was at 6:38 a.m. EDT Oct. 14. The 3.4-mile trip, known as rollout, is expected to take about six hours.
