Attic Krater wiht red figures

Open vase of medium-depth with bell inverted shape, from which two symmetrical circular section handles upward twisted, with wide-mouth and everted rim resting on a thick base moulded out. Orange coloured thin compact paste with black varnished which takes reddish tones in some areas.

Red-figured bell-krater attributed to painter Telos or to the circle of the painter Tyrso Negro (Retorted Painter). With a thick laurel leaves border under the edge. The body of the krater is decorated, on the frieze of ribs, with a scene of symposia with two men leant back enjoying a party accompanied by the music of a flute player. The reverse presents a secondary scene with two young men dressed in robes talking and with a double column between the two.

This Krater was found in the tomb 137 of the Iberian necropolis of Cabezo Lucero, in a horizontal position, stone-paved and covered by an attic bowl black varnished, used as funerary urn containing inside the charred bone remains of a deceased.
