The Go-Betweens was an Indie rock band formed in Brisbane, Queensland in 1977 by singer-songwriters and guitarists Robert Forster and Grant McLennan. Members included Lindy Morrison on drums, Robert Vickers and later John Willsteed on bass guitar, and Amanda Brown on violin, oboe, guitar, and backing vocals. In 2001 the song ‘Cattle and Cane’ was selected by the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) as one of the Top 30 Australian songs of all time. The line-up at the time this image was taken comprised Robert Forster, Grant McClennan, Glenn Thompson and Adele Pickvance. Located in the Shannon’s building in Ann Street, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, The Zoo is a cult venue which has hosted local and international touring bands since 1992, and nurtured the Brisbane music scene for over 25 years.
