During the political campaigns leading up to the Saar statute referendum of 23 October 1955, the pro-German opposition used the Slogan "Joho – der falsche Bergmannssohn verkauft den Warndt um Judaslohn!" [Joho - the false miner's son is selling the Warndt mine for a Judas's wage] to ridicule the then current Saarlandic Prime Minister Johannes Hoffmann (CVP), commonly referred to as "Joho".
