Automated Irrigation in Action

Traditional furrow irrigation comes with some drawbacks. Due to the use of siphons which need to
be manually started and stopped, it is labour intensive and can result in inflexibility with regard to timing. However researchers have discovered that by automating and optimising the system, it can compete with other forms of irrigation systems and have lower energy costs.
