This self-portrait was made in Detroit. We see Frida quite sad, even emanciated, and, although her head is covered with a net, she seems untidy. Her clothes have nothing to do eith the garments she usually wore; in this case, we view her in a hospital gown, slightly drawn. This was normal, because when she made the drawing, she had beenadmitted in the Henry Ford Hospital, five days afetr suffering a miscarriage.
