This is a classic work of Chinese concept photography, but also the most important representation of Hong Lei’s personal works . Dead bird in the Forbidden City palace, like an ancient treacherous fable, Hong Lei use the bird’s death to symbolize the suicide of spirit, and the hazy background Hall of Supreme Harmony, suggesting imperial autocracy. This scene of shocking nightmare to get people involved massacres, death, history, powerful, revealing the dark perspective behind the right. Hong Lei through the way of dyeing, changing the color, and other post-processing effects to imitate the nostalgia of mimic old photos. This unreal scene is a real understanding of history from the artist. From about the mid-1990s he shot by means of post-production to create image with secretive environment. This makes his work like a fable, the meaning is complex and hard to describe.
