Baby Cardinals

Northern Cardinals are a common species in the city of Chicago, but that hasn't always been true. In the 1920's the species' northern range limit was central Illinois and the species was considered rare in Chicago. Today, they are common permanent residents north through all of Wisconsin and most of Minnesota.
