Long time ago, in a hilly area, there was a kingdom lead by Raden Bandung. Tranquillity and comfort suddenly turned bad since the coming of a giant (Buto) who took that beautiful land. Raden Bandung was failed to defend the kingdom so that the giants held the power. Having wounded body, he run into a forest and meditated in a lake to gain power from The Creator. In the depth of the lake, Raden Bandung was directed to sharpen his nail (sharpen: Sangir in local word, that is the origin of Sangiran) as a weapon to defeat those giants. Shortly, with his power, Raden Bandung succseffully seized his kingdom through a big war. The giant bodies were buried in Sangiran turning into bones which spreaded out in Sangiran land.
