Rubber conveyor

The rubber conveyor or pit conveyor is the term used for the conveyor belt on which the extracted coal is emptied in order to remove from it interfering components also referred to as "waste rock". The workers stood to the side of the picking belt and sorted everything out that wasn't coal, e.g. tailings and broken tools. This meant that the pieces of coal could be released for transportation at the end of the picking belt.
