Banners of the Banned

McKee’s final degree show piece was inspired by the national flags of the seven countries whose citizens were banned from entering the country by American President Donald Trump in January 2017. The scarves are designed to be worn as an act of protest, or as a symbol of support to those affected by the travel ban. The University of Edinburgh Art Collection also acquired an accompanying newspaper, designed and printed by McKee, which further details Trump’s actions and the effects of his ban on each country.
