In Hawaii by the late 1970s big wave surfboard design had reached a highly refined point. Designed for a specific purpose and tested to their limits these big wave boards (known as "guns") had become beautiful aesthetic designs that were also about pure performance. This surfboard was designed and shaped by renowned Hawaiian big wave charger Barry Kanaiaupuni. The board was Ridden at Bells Beach by surf company Quiksilver founder John Law.
