The Khalili Collections

The basin has a flat base, with rounded sides and a flaring scalloped rim. The interior of the base is decorated with an interlaced geometric design of  triangles and hexagons, with a six-petalled rosette in each hexagon. This is framed within a benedictory inscription in Kufic. A benedictory inscription in naskh, with the hastae terminating in human heads, decorates the lobed side walls. The inscription is interrupted by 18 medallions, each bearing a six-petalled rosette. The exterior is undecorated.
