Basket-shape vase with peony, Izushi ware

White porcelain was shaped to look like a cane or bamboo-woven basket using a mold. The body is dented in the middle and three-dimensional peony flowers are added. The craftsmanship is astounding as the petals and leaves were made using clay pieces under 1 mm thick and even have veins.
