This basket form is probably from the northeastern California Achumawi and possibly used as a hat. It has twisted tule warps with stitches of tule and a full-twist overlay of bea rgrass, dark dyed grass, and yellow dyed porcupine quills. It is notable in that the mostly dark design motif is unusual.
