Salamanca, Spain

It was Galluba & Hofmann’s workshop that the most appreciated “bathing beauties” came from, some small figures mostly made of bisque that represent one of the amusements of the society in the 20s: sunbathing and the outdoor leisure activities related to the sea, a concept remote from the medical purposes that started to attract the turism to the coastal areas at the end of the 19th century.
This workshop’s bathing beauties are characterized by their high quality in the detail, their elegant poses and their delicate faces and intaglio (engraved) eyes.
