Châteauroux, France

The Battle of Marengo (June 14, 1800) was a decisive battle in the propaganda operation that launched Bonaparte to consolidate his power. Rough battle between the 20,000 soldiers of the French forces under the orders of Napoleon against the 40,000 Austrians of the imperial army of the Holy Empire, the victory of the future emperor over the Imperials allows him to assert himself a little more as First Consul. It was also the same battle where General Desaix, whose pistols of honor are kept in the Bertrand Museum, was killed by a bullet to the heart.
